How Will We/They Know
Disciples are those who choose a way and follow it.
How will we know, how do others know, what and whose we are?
Remember: "They will know we are Christians by our Love"?
If we live into and out of the truth and love of God made known to us, we will know. And, so will they.
We speak here of emptying love, forgiving love, the love that gives for the good of others.
Discipleship is learning and practicing the way of love.
Continuing is the heart of discipleship, the challenge of faith. Any of us can respond or even begin a good thing in a moment of inspiration. But staying. Continuing. Enlarging our tents. Those are what make the real thing.
Love as a concept is nice, worthy admirable. Love incarnate, continued, extended, full of mercy and grace, is the Diving Love upon which the foundation of discipleship is built.
People will not pay much attention to ideas or carefully crafted doctrines if love is absent. We remember "By their fruits you shall know them."
Have we the fruits of righteousness, love and peace? If so, we are disciples.
Always Love, Always
